Welcome, readers! I'm a zoologist by education and a writer by inclination. I won the first writing contest I entered, in third grade in England, received a gift certificate to the village bookstore, and bought three novels by my favorite author of the moment: Enid Blyton. I'm an admitted animal-lover and bookaholic, and share my home with two bossy felines: Bertie and Eowin, who are my harshest critics, and over 7,000 books. I imagine my epitaph as: “Felled while editing, trapped beneath a literary avalanche. She died happy and well-read."
Six years ago, I took a sabbatical from my zoological work and sat down to write, not the scientific papers for which I was noted, but the fascinating world of fiction. But in all my works, my background surfaces in the characters of animals with distinct personalities who play crucial roles in the story.
My stories have won many RWA chapter contests, and I've now turned my talents toward editing and judging as well as writing. I'm always surprised by what my characters say and do, and the unexpected plot twists and turns.
